Hello,

BC4 aligns by equal file names unless an Alignment Override has been defined in the Folder Compare's Session Settings, Misc tab, in the Alignment Override section. Do you have one defined here for the B names or uses a mask that matches on B? Delete or edit the Alignment Override to allow the matching names to then match.

As a tip, for other users hitting this as well: if you save a specific session and reload it, it can end up with Alignment Overrides configured from awhile ago. But another one that trips me up sometimes is if I've updated the Session defaults using the Session Setting dropdown "Also update session defaults", or edited it on the Home screen, in the saved Sessions list, expand the New folder and select Folder Compare: Edit Defaults.

Since Alignment Overrides don't trigger unless a very specific mask is hit, you can have one sitting in here from several projects ago that almost never has proper targets so it never exposes itself. It also doesn't apply to any older Saved sessions you might be using regularly, but does work its way into every New/blank/adhoc Folder Compare. If you aren't sure how it ended up there, I would check the Home screen's default section as well.
