SFTP disconnect-reconnect freeze

Hi,

This is the first time I've posted for the BC4 beta, and hope my notes are good to contribute to some fix.

First, I have read each of the thread titles on the 9 pages of the forum, and found a handful that fit similarly, although not exactly.

I previously used v4.0.0.16121 until a few minutes ago, found a bug, then upgraded to find it partially fixed.

The current state of the bug in v4.0.0.16378:

Connect to a remote server (in my case by SFTP, not sure if it's also FTP).
Navigate to a subfolder with many files
click copy
click cancel
This causes the connection to disconnect.
Click copy again, which pops up the copy dialog and initiates the (S)FTP connection.
Click cancel again.
If cancelled after re-connection completes, then nothing bad seems to occur, and the dialog goes away.
If cancelled during the connection phase, the dialog gets stuck, but some of the UI is still responsive.

An hour ago while still using v4.0.0.16121, I found the same bug but instead, anytime cancelling the copy dialog, the whole app would totally freeze.

Thanks for the report. You are clicking the Stop button in the upper right, correct? Does this trigger a disconnect for your server every time or only sometimes?

Does it trigger a disconnect is you use the progress bar's mini-abort button for just the copy task?

In both cases, this does not trigger a disconnect from the server in my own testing. What server and version are you connecting to? Would it be possible to get a test account?

We have had some issues (as you've found in the forum) with cancel requests and disabled dialogs. Thanks for doing the extra research to see if the issue was already reported, that is appreciated.

Sorry for the late reply. I see there is no new version update in BC to update, so my experience and bug are still relevant.

Actually no, I had not even noticed the stop button in the upper-right. What I clicked on is the cancel button on the dialog. When I was testing a few days ago, the server was disconnecting every time.

I've used that before in BC 3, but in this case, no I had not been using that abort button.

I have tried this again today, and found my reported bug, exactly as I described and further, trying to aggravate the problem by rapid repeating of the process, has not reproduced the bug. So, it's intermittent. Perhaps, this occurs in busier times of the day, but who knows when those are? I'll let you know if I can repeat this. Also, I don't know the name of the server software, it isn't reported when I connect. If I can repeat the issue, I'll get you access.

No problem! I use Stack Overflow frequently, and subscribe to the adage "Google is your friend", so yeah I know questions get answered sometimes.
